Findings from many studies continue to identify energy costs as the main pressure on businesses in Ireland.

In a 2024 report, IBEC identified energy as the highest business cost, particularly in the experiences and hospitality sectors. They fear that this places jobs at risk and businesses to become uncompetitive.

In November 2024, Azets Ireland warned that energy costs, the highest in the EU, are listed as driving businesses to insolvency. Despite a fall in energy prices in 2024, they still remain higher than the period before the Ukraine war.

These reports highlight the ongoing need to manage energy as effectively as possible to avoid waste and identify savings where possible.
